Our winter and spring photo tour showcases stunning poppies and private gardens. Explore The River Garden, Cheryl’s Garden, the Formal Garden, Flower Field, Kitchen Garden, and the Food Park. We plan our tours to highlight the gardens in their prime, capturing the beauty of peak bloom and the golden hours of early morning or late afternoon.
These tours emphasize three main photography themes: macro shots of flowers, landscape vistas of the gardens, and wildlife photography. The morning sessions begin at sunrise and the evening sessions begin at the golden hour. The sessions can last between 2 to 4 hours, depending on weather conditions and the garden’s daily activities.
We maintain a small group size of 5-10 participants to provide a personalized experience. This allows each photographer ample space and opportunity to creatively engage with their surroundings, focusing on subject selection, composition, lighting, and technique, with the added benefit of personalized attention when needed.
Furthermore, we keep a close watch on weather conditions and only proceed with these guided tours when the weather is suitable for good photographic outcomes.
Camera Gear: To capture the images on this website, I used full-frame digital cameras (Nikon Z8 & Z9) along with a selection of lenses, including wide-angle (14-24 & 24-70 mm), medium telephoto (85 & 135 mm), and macro (105 mm) lenses, as well as tripods. To protect plants and flowers, there are conditions on tripod use, which the Guides will explain at the beginning of your tour.
Garden Photography Tours are available for small groups and photography clubs. To schedule a garden photo tour, kindly contact our master photographer, Olis Garber, via email at ogarber@comcast.net.
A donation of $20 per photographer is recommended to assist the Lanakila Garden Foundation in funding its programs.
